In The Spotlight

February 2010

It’s ShowTime:

It is the time of year when Sam and I begin planning our year-end show, The 2010 Dance Extravaganza. To some of you, this may seem a little early to be making plans, but there are many details and believe it or not, it will be here in no time!! I have been busy since October with music selections and editing, selecting costumes and supplying the classrooms with all the necessary props needed. Sam and his crew have already begun designing the set for this year’s show.

By the way, we have an unconfirmed venue for the 2010 Dance Extravaganza. The James Buchanan Middle School is available and the paperwork has been submitted. Now it just needs to be presented to the school board for approval.

In the upcoming months there will be many important dates and events you will need to know about, so please be sure to stay updated with the newsletter and the dates to remember (both are posted on our website).

Many of you have already received your costumes, but there are still a few yet to come. I have attached a list of each costume and the accessories needed for each class. Please be sure to get everything you need now, this way you will be ready for pictures in plenty of time.2010 Dance Extravaganza Date Set!:

We will be holding the 2010 Dance Extravaganza the week of June 15 through the 19th. Like I said, it will be held in the James Buchanan Middle-School. For those of you who have not been in this school, the auditorium is lovely. It seats a little less than the High-School, however has several spots for handicap seating.

More details will come in next month’s newsletter.Picture Week:

Oh, yeah, picture week is scheduled next month, March 8-11. Once again we invited professional photographer, Bob Rosensteel to take all studio pictures. He does a wonderful job and I am looking forward to working with him again this year. He is very patient with each student and allows the parents to "approve" the pictures when they are taken.

Since this year, we have two dance rooms, the report times will vary a little from the regular class schedule. Students will report to Dance Room 1 at their scheduled time. When Mr. Rosensteel is ready, we will move to Dance Room 2 to have the photos taken. The schedule will be very full, so please be sure to be dressed and ready when scheduled to ensure we do not hold up any later classes. Wednesday morning classes will be scheduled Wednesday afternoon just before the evening classes begin. Mr. And Mrs. Rosensteel live about on hour from our studio and this will alleviate the need for them to make two trips that day. We will be taking a class photo for each class to place in our annual yearbook and any individual photos if you choose to purchase them. When the pictures are finished, the class will be dismissed. Mr. Rosensteel will be transforming the dance room into his photography studio for the week, so there will be no dancing this week.

Picture order forms will be emailed later this months and remember a separate form is needed for each class. No purchase is necessary, but please come anyway because I do insert the class photo of every class in the yearbook for our show. All order forms for the week can be handed in the first time you are at the studio with one payment for the total amount (you do not need a separate check for each form). If you have more than one child or a set of friends, you can have a picture taken with all of them during one of the classtimes. Just fill out a separate order form.

To see a sample of Bob’s work, you can view the photo album in the lobby or yearbooks hanging by the clothing rack in the retail area.
