In The Spotlight November 2009 Newsletter Studio Christmas Party With Thanksviging quickly approaching, I am reminded how soon we will be having the studio Christmas Party. The staff puts a lot of work into this and it promises to be another exciting year. This year we will be holding them here at the dance studio on Saturday, December 5. Your children will enjoy time with all their dance friends while playing games, gift exchanging, sharing food and fun times together. It is sure to be a special day for everyone. Once again, they are held on Saturday, December 5 with the schedule as follows: Each child is to bring a $5.00 gift for a child of the same age. Please put the age of the student on the gift along with the child's name who broght it. Parents are not required to stay at the party. You are welcome to use this time to complete your last minute Christmas tasks. Just be sure to return at the proper time so we can prepare for the next party. I will need some help serving food and drinks during snack time. I will also need some help with snacks for the parties. If you could donate food (cookies, chips, pretzels, cupcakes, veggies, juice, etc.) supplies, or help at the party, please sign up on the sheet posted on the board in the lobby. It will be posted in Novemer. New This Year: The Jr. and Sr. High party will be a little different. We will enjoy food and gift exchange, then have "Movie Night" in Dance Room 2. We will set up a projector screen and show a Christmas movie for the party. Please bring pillows, beanbag chairs or anything you may need to help make you more comfortable! Website Just a reminder that you can read the newsletter on the studio webside at www.missdicey.com. We use the website to serve as an information portal between the staff and families of Miss Dicey's. This is also where we have the Calendar of Events so you can keep important dates close and we post any studio closings due to inclement weather on the front page to help keep you updated. Christmas Open House The studion will be open for Christmas Open House the week of December 14. This is a great time for all our students to share their love of dance with the people they love. The students all get excited about sharing everything they have learned with all their friends and family and the staff always looks forward to getting to know their families a little better. All classes are held at regular times. Family and Friends are welcome to observe class with their children. Please be sure to bring cameras and video cameras to capture wonderful memories. Daylight Savings Time!! I hope everyone remembered to turn their clocks back an hour on October 31. Parents, please do not be alarmed if your child cries when it is time for dance classes for a few weeks. Children do not rely on clocks for a sense of time but rather the light outside. If your child is crying when it is time for dance classes, it is only because it now feels like bedtime for them. This happens to many children this time of year and will correct itself in a few weeks. Remember, this is not uncommon, so do not feel bad if you need to leave a crying child with your instructor. Dress Requirements Please remember to come to class prepared to dance. This is not a fashion show. All dancers must wear the appropriate shoes to their classes, and all ballet students must remember that all clothing must be fitted or spandex. No cami tops are permitted in ballet class. hair and bangs longer than your eyes must be securely taped down. All dress requirements ar for the benefit and safety of the dancer. Baggy clothing can hide the dancers body enough that they receive improper technique instruction which can result in injury or difficulty for the studen tin class. Pittsburgh Workshop, Everyone Invited Our dance team will be traveling to Pittsburgh in February for their first competition of the season. along with Miss Dicey, Miss Calynne, and Miss Megan, they will also be attending a workshop where they will be taught from the leading instructors in the industry.
